Do you tend to navigate to the 1950’s era, which is synonymous with the Pin Up Girl look? If so, you know it is a kind of look that says sexy, classic and doesn’t reveal too much of anything. Pin up clothing usually accentuates the best areas of a gal’s body.

You don’t want to look like you have a costume on, you want to be wearing things that are comfortable and that you feel comfortable in. Teaming modern clothing items up with pin up accessories is a great way to pull in the pin up feel without wearing an entire “outfit”.

A characteristic of classic pin up is simple colors. Think white, black, navy and some red. Simple clothing pieces that tend to fit the body well make the woman’s body stand out. Busy prints are not the norm, but rather the silhouette of the body. Maybe a hint of lace or silk may appear on vintage pin up clothing, but not much glitz. Beading? No.

Sensuality is key, not over-exposed sexiness. Classy but curvy; you should look really nice and intriguing but not a shocking sex-pot!

Skirts tended to be knee length, not shorter and not usually past the knee. Pencil skirts with structure are a perfect example of a great pin up look.

Sweaters for pin up era? 1950’s sweaters, either retro or true vintage clothing are fitted at the torso and arms and cover the stomach area.

Dresses = hourglass shape. Fitted tops and narrow waistlines are the highlights for a 1950’s pin up dress. The length is still kept at the knee length, not longer and definitely NOT shorter!

Pin up 1950’s gals like their accessories as I mentioned. Check out scarves, tied around your neck they look stunning! Remember the red lipstick, simple strands of pearls and nylons. Don’t miss the nylons; super sensual with lines in the back of the nylons!

This is just a short tip list for nailing your 1950’s vintage Pin Up look. Have fun and most of all, develop YOUR look!
